Our first view if Alaska on the inside passage.
Above are a couple of photos taken as we sailed to Juneau the capital of Alaska.
Docking in Juneau.
Waiting for Mount Roberts tramway's cable car.
The top of Mount Roberts.
Looking down the fjord the way we arrived.
And looking the other way, over Juneau, to the end.
Our ship was berthed close to the Mount Roberts tramway terminal.
A couple of photos of the dock where the sightseeing float planes load and unload.
While we were docked the crew had a lifeboat drill.
Some of the ships crew enjoying some home cooking from one of the street vendors.
The sun is setting and we are due to leave soon.
The ship in front of us has already left and we can see the empty float plane dock and the city.
Pulling away from our berth.
Looking back to Juneau.
A very overcast day. This ship was leaving Hubbard Glacier as we arrived.
Our first growler, (Piece of glacier).
Entering the icefield on the way to the glacier.
Another growler.
Hubbard Glacier.
All rugged up on our deck watching Hubbard Glacier recede as we sail away.
In the middle of this photo is a Bald Eagle on top of a tree.
Here it is.
A bit of a cloudy day in Sitka. A few photos taken around town.
Colleen standing by a rubbish bin. We saw several of these around town.
Watching passengers returning from Sitka.
As you can see from these pictures the ship docked out of town and we had to be bused into Sitka.
Here we are in Ketchican.
This is Cook street. An arts and craft shopping area built out over the water.
Houses built on the side of the mountains.
And how some reach them.
We were moored right in town.
Underneath the snow capped moutains.
The three photos above are of Dave Rubin's bronze monument "The Rock". It features 7 life-size figures from Ketchikan's past: Chief Johnson, a logger, a fisherman, a miner, an aviator, a Native woman drumming, and an elegant lady in her 1890s finery.
After dinner on our last night we went for a walk and found Fisherman's Wharf.
On returning I took this photo of the ship illuminated by the setting sun.
Debarkation day Seattle.
Back in Canada again. This is the hotel Georgia where we stayed with Chris when we took him to England.
In the waiting room for the Rocky Mountaineer.
The piper farewelling us.
Leading the crowd to our carriage at the back of the train.
The crowd following.
The ground crew assembled to wave us off. And the piper playing us away.
Views from the train.
Lunch dessert. Chocolate Mud Cake with Cape Gooseberry.
More views of our journey.
At the front of this train are two engines. As mentioned earlier we are in one of the last carriages.
Kamloops ground crew waving us off.
Breakfast.
On the second day I found this viewing vestibule.
At Kamloops the train was split. Some going to Jasper and ourselves going to Banff. We are now in the middle of the train.
Another view from the train.
Passing our sister train in a siding. It was heading down to Kamloops.
The arrow is pointing to a bear I saw. We were past it before I could photograph it.
The weather changed as we climbed into the Rockies. The weather took the train crew by surprise. It was not like this the week before.
The Great Divide. The highest point on the Canadian Pacific Railway.
Lake Louise station. This station was used in the Dr. Zhivago film.
Banff station in the cold rain.
A view from our Banff hotel room.
